Challenge # 2, Beat the Standard Score

When I see a challenge, I want to take it on and conquer it!! I'll post my challenges and come back at a later date to see my progress. If you want to take on my challenges, please do and let me know how you do! :)

I have a crazy dream.
Dreams of making a music album with a recording contract one day.
Dreams of opening up my own bakery.
Dreams of becoming a personal trainer.
I have a million crazy dreams but this one, this ones kind of out of the ordinary.

So crazy that I think only one or two people know about it. I'm sure that one of them forgot but I know for sure there's one person in the world who knows it. I talk about it every now and then and I get so amped up just thinking about living it. I hope one day I'll work case by case, maybe even in different countries. It's not a glorious career but I'm sure it's rewarding.

Wanna know what it is?

I want to be a special agent for the F.B.I.

trust me, this is fitness related!! :)

It's not something I grew up dreaming to be one day so it might seem weird to people who know me and are hearing about this for the first time. Whether it happens or not, I guess we'll just have to see. Maybe this is just one of those dreams that never happens. I highly doubt this will ever happen actually! Regardless, I've found that this is something I can challenge myself with, whether or not I pursue that career.

If you're gonna dream, might as well dream big.

So one day I looked into becoming a special agent. Among having a bachelors degree, experience in the criminal justice related field and a bunch of other requirements, there's a standardized physical fitness test. Somewhat surprising but duh, its obvious that special agents need to be in their best physical shape!!

So I looked into what their fitness test consisted of, at this time, I was already working out but still heavy. To pass the test, trainees must achieve a minimum cumulative score of 12 points with at least one point in each of four areas:
  1. Sit ups in 1 minute
  2. Timed 300-meter sprint
  3. Push-ups (un-timed)
  4. A timed 1.5 mile run
Sounds okay, something someone could easily conquer. Except for when you look at their scoring scales!!

I paid no attention to it after that but I still wanted to become a special agent one day. So I just recently started looking into it again because after a year and a half of being an avid runner and working out, I figured I could test myself.

I wanted to challenge myself to be the best I could be.

Its important for me to say that I am going into this with a healthy and positive mindset. This is a challenge and challenges should be exciting and fun. I am telling you right now, I will conquer this!! I am going to work my butt off to get the highest score I possibly can. If I don't, so what? I'm not going to cry. I will just work harder.

I'll start logging down my stats every week to see if I progress. Im also going to post their score scales so that if anyone wants to challenge themselves, whether or not you want to be a special agent, even if you just wanna get on their level ;) Be my guest!!

January 3, 2012
  • Sit-ups in 1 minute
    • 25 sit-ups
      • score: (-2)
  • Timed 300-meter sprint
    • Unable to log that tonight since I ran at home
  • Push-ups (un-timed)
    • 4 push-ups
      • score: (-2)
  • Timed 1.5 mile run
    • 20 minutes
      • score: (-2)
Total Score: -6
Standard Passing Score: 12 with at least 1 point in each (-2 or 0 points don't count.)

As you can see, I am NO pro, I will start training myself as of today to get where I want to be. This should be exciting!!

Are you gonna challenge yourself?!

Love, Angel xo

Dang, those are some tough standards! I'd be proud just to get one point for each section, not to mention a total of 12 points! Definitely makes me wanna give it a try tho. =P
